Dates come from the Ministère de l'Éducation's official schedule (updated August 28, 2026) or from each CEGEP's calendar. The school sets the time and room: always confirm with the school.
In high school, most schools hold midyear exams in January. Each school sets its own dates: check the school calendar or its online portal.
Some students also write the January ministry session (semester schools, retakes): Secondary 4 history on January 15, science on January 20 and math on January 21, 2027. The Secondary 5 French writing exam for that session is on December 3, 2026. At CEGEP, fall finals are in December.
CST, TS or SN: the ministry exam tests mathematical reasoning in 3 hours. Here are the official dates, what it covers and a realistic plan to get ready.
There is no ministry exam for Secondary 5 math in the official 2026-2027 schedule: the final exam is written by the school or the school service centre. The mark still matters a lot for CEGEP admission.
An open letter of about 500 words, 3 hours 15 minutes to write it, criteria known in advance. It is the most feared exam of high school, and one of the most predictable.
The theory part of the Science and Technology (ST) or Applied Science and Technology (AST) exam takes 3 hours. Lots of topics, but a simple way to review them.
The History of Québec and Canada exam takes 3 hours, with a file of documents. Dates matter, but the way the student reads the documents is what earns the mark.
The first ministry exams come in June, in language and math. They count for 20% of the competencies assessed. The goal: arrive confident, not worn out.
At CEGEP, a final exam can be a big part of the grade, and the grade affects the R score. Dates change from one CEGEP to the next: here is where to find them and how to get ready.
