CEGEP · Calculus I, II and Linear Algebra

CEGEP finals, without an all-nighter.

At CEGEP, a final exam can be a big part of the grade, and the grade affects the R score. Dates change from one CEGEP to the next: here is where to find them and how to get ready.

What the exam covers

Each CEGEP publishes its own academic calendar. In fall 2026, for example, Collège Ahuntsic's exam period runs from December 14 to 22, and the Cégep du Vieux Montréal term ends on December 21. English CEGEPs such as Dawson publish their own calendar. For winter 2027, final exam dates are to be confirmed in your CEGEP's calendar.

In Differential Calculus (NYA), Integral Calculus (NYB) and Linear Algebra (NYC), the final exam covers the whole term. A failed course hurts the R score, so it pays to target weak chapters early.

1

Calculus I (NYA)

Limits, derivatives, differentiation rules, optimization and related rates.

2

Calculus II (NYB)

Integration techniques, improper integrals, sequences and series.

3

Linear Algebra (NYC)

Matrices, determinants, linear systems, vectors and vector spaces.

4

Time management

Knowing which questions to do first and keeping time to check.

Week by week

A realistic prep plan

Two 60-minute sessions a week with the tutor, plus 2 or 3 short sessions alone. That is exactly the pace of the Blitz packages.

  1. Week 1Redo the term's tests and list the chapters where marks were lost.
  2. Week 2One weak chapter per session, with exercises that get harder.
  3. Week 3One timed practice final, a detailed correction, then sleep before the exam.
Avoid these

The most common mistakes

  • Rereading notes instead of doing exercises.
  • Letting high school algebra mistakes cost marks.
  • Learning integration techniques without knowing which one to pick.
  • Going into the exam without one full timed practice exam.
  • Waiting until the last week to ask for help.

Exam Blitz packages

An intensive boost, right before the exam

The same hourly rate as usual for the level, with a small discount, at a pace of 2 sessions a week. Sessions are booked in your parent space, with the same tutor.

Paid online at purchase (Stripe). Sessions already given are not refunded. A session cancelled at least 24 hours ahead stays as a credit in your space. The first class is still free.

When are CEGEP final exams?

When is the uniform language exam?

Does a failed course change the R score a lot?

Yes. A failed course counts in the R score, which is why preparing before the final is better than after.

Is CEGEP tutoring more expensive?

The rate is $55 an hour at the CEGEP level, and the first class is free. Blitz packages give a small discount.
